You bought goat cheese.
Congratulations! You’ve taken the first steps towards becoming a foodie–a term that can often be misinterpreted. Being a “foodie” doesn’t have to mean that you eat things like foie gras or have a field of sundried tomatoes in your backyard. Seriously, put down the duck confit and stop trying to pronounce Sauvignon Blanc.
Let’s be real here.
In my opinion, foodie can simply mean having an appreciation for fabulous food. It can also mean knowing how to take simple ingredients and give them a gourmet twist.
Now that you have your goat cheese badge, let me show you what to do with it…
Herbed Goat Cheese Butter
Equal parts Goat Cheese and Butter
Parsley, Chives, Basil, Rosemary
Sea Salt
**Melt over steak, chicken, or fish**
____
Goat Cheese Honey Butter
1 small log room temperature Goat Cheese
2 tablespoons room temperature Butter
2 tablespoons Honey
Sea Salt (to taste)
Cracked Black Pepper (1/4 teaspoon)
Lemon Zest (1/4 teaspoon)
**Spread onto toasted pumpernickel (or any thick-cut bread you have on hand)**
I love this idea. It’s healthier than a regular flavored butter, and mellower than straight goat cheese. They both sound delicious.
Fanny, Having just enjoyed the taste of this goat cheese butter delight, I think it is a clever way of delivering flavor without it being to heavy. You have aerated the butter and cheese together – almost whipped and the taste is great especially with the meyer lemon zest. Nice job. Where did you learn to cook?
